Scientists have shown that wine offers health benefits for those who drink it. Now those who drink it can help improve the health of others thanks to the Ever Cork Counts program.
The E & J Gallo Winery has brought back its Every Cork Counts program for the fifth consecutive year, allowing Gallo wine drinkers to send in their used corks, prompting a $1 donation to Meals on Wheels.
Participation in the program is pretty simple. For technically inclined wine drinkers, simply snap a photo of the cork or cap from a newly opened bottle and text that photo and the word GALLO to 811811. Then follow the directions that follow.
Those who prefer to send their cork the old fashioned way can email the photo to email@example.com or simply upload it to Every Cork Counts website.
And for those who prefer the really old fashioned way, pop the cork into an envelope and mail it to:

During its first four years, the Every Cork Counts program has prompted Gallo to donate a total of about $250,000 to Meals on Wheels. The money goes to help feed hungry senior citizens. Meals on Wheels has a goal of stamping out senior hunger by 2020.
The Every Cork Counts program runs through the end of the year. Gallo will only accept 10 cork photos per day which is probably a good thing. Who needs to be drinking more than 10 bottles of wine in a day?
Most hunger programs benefit starving children, and rightly so. But there are an enormous amount of our senior citizens who go hungry every day. Care To Click supports the efforts by Gallo and Meals on Wheels to help our seniors.
So enjoy a bottle of Gallo or two over the coming weeks. And be sure to visit the Care To Click Hunger page, where you can donate a free click or print useful coupons. At CareToClick.com, your small actions prompt our donations to organizations working to end hunger.
